Ice Flower Creek

This week snowshoeing was on schedule. On the way to the cabin we found this little creek with some lovely iceflowers sitting on the rocks. Result - first stop.

Very nice samples, I presume by the way the crystals in the water haven't melted the creek is a little on the cold side.
Are ice flowers like this very common or something you only see occasionally?

They certainly make for a good picture.

Haven't seen them that often before. It required very deep temperatures and they take a long time as they grow very slow.
