I am having no luck with my 70-200. I can't seem to get a sharp image. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Surely you didn't use IS here, you would have had it mounted on your tripod right?

My IS is off all of the time in nature photography. I always focus using the Live View on the back of my camera. You can't fail like that as you get what you see. Except using a smaller aperture you can also try stacking different focuses images in Photoshop. But for wide views like this, it's not really necessary.

I use live view to focus as well, always manual focus. I guess I'm still getting use to shooting with telephotos, it's a lot different from my wide angle that's for sure.

Sure ... here DOF plays a more important role. Wideangle lenses are very comfortable in that way.

I was starting to think I had a soft copy of the 70-200 2.8 cause I can't seem to get sharp photos.

Yeah I guess, I don't think I have a bad copy though. I just have to find the lens limitations and work around them.
